Sewing Class Instructors at Vacuums R Us & Sewing Too

Our Sewing Class Instructors!

I’ve been interested in sewing as a hobby for about a year now. But I never pursued it further than just mild interest. Once we opened the Boulder store, however, I was finally able to explore and learn! I’ve only been learning how to sew for 2 or so months now. I like to think I’m getting better the more I go.

I learned to sew for my local theatre program seven years ago. It really sparked my love of costuming and garment construction in general. Nowadays I primary do historical costuming but I’ve been known to dabble with diy projects!

Marlene Swift is avid about all things textiles; sewing, knitting, quilting and fun fashion. For the past 30 years Marlene has developed her own patterns and sewn skirts, dresses, blouses, blazers, coats and underwear. She can also make household items such as curtains, slipcovers and custom pillows.

Michelle is a maker of things – clothes, shoes, bags, sweaters, books, bread, and trouble.  Her sewing career started in 9th grade when she had to make pillows of her initials in Home Ec class and she could not help herself but to hack the pattern. It’s been quilts, clothes, and a lot of halloween costumes since then and she is still obsessed.
